A new masterplan is being developed for the eastern Afrikalaan in Ghent, transforming the Hedin Automotive site into a mixed neighbourhood with workshops, housing and a new park landscape.
With design research as a basis, the plan gives the city and Hedin Automotive a shared view of the future and a clear, sustainable way to grow the site over time.

A continuous green corridor forms the central spine of the area, connecting Trifertopark with the green spaces behind the Scandinaviëblokken. Two new housing blocks are arranged around bright, shared outdoor spaces, while a third building brings together parking, energy facilities and functions for the neighbourhood.

By bringing mobility, landscape and programme together in one clear framework, the masterplan sets the foundation for the long-term transformation of the district.
