From the allotment from 1970 only a few free plots remain. This plot is located on the edge of the neighbourhood and overlooks an open meadow landscape at the rear. The plot is a small forest between the villas of the allotment. The beech, birch and coniferous trees differ from the short-cut grass and rectangular hedges of the neighbours. The house fits in between the existing trees, clearing as few as possible so that the forest remains intact.

The house structure is built with a timber frame construction insulated with cellulose flakes. The façade is made in Shou Sugi Ban, or blackened wood. This fire technique is an age-old tradition in Japan. The top layer of the wooden façade is charred, making it waterproof and immune to fungi and insects.
