la era

Small villages in the Spanish Pyrenees often lie abandoned throughout the winter, only to come alive in the summer when the descendants of the original inhabitants return to spend their holidays. These seasonal residents mingle with the few year-round locals, creating a burst of social energy and revitalizing the community.

On the edge of one of these villages, occupying a corner lot, there is a typical village house with a small barn which served as a storage place for hay and a stable for animals. The original solid stone structure of the existing volume is preserved and relocated into a new double façade, while being reinforced with a prefabricated structure of CLT (Cross Laminated Timber) panels.

Program: multy-family house.
