The Elisabethpark is characterized by tall trees. They are often old, special or monumental trees. Like the buildings in a built environment, the vertical structure and scale of the trees are the reference in the park to determine the size and proportions of the new pavilion.
The vertical visible structure is folded around the existing structure like a shell. Façade sections are opened or closed depending on the relationship with the outside space. Storage space is integrated in the outer shell and envelops the more introverted functions. The accessibility from the perimeter generates movement around the pavilion and avoids unnecessary circulation in the pavilion. The façade becomes an active element.
