In the centre of Ghent, a historic apartment has been carefully renovated to bring new life and flexibility to the existing spaces. At the heart of the project stands a multifunctional object that contains the kitchen and bathroom. This new element organises the layout and defines how the different rooms relate to one another.

By opening or closing parts of the object, the apartment can easily shift in use — from one connected space to several more private areas. The contrast between the old structure and the new addition creates a quiet dialogue between history and contemporary living. Warm materials and simple details highlight this balance, keeping the character of the original apartment while making it ready for the future.
